sculpting: what I learned
Carving soap takes patience and imagination, not just skill. It is all about taking time to create intricate designs or even a simple one.
This was my very first soap carving and it turned out way better than expected. I took the time and finished to a standard I am happy with.
It took only 2 to 3 hours to sculpt a 4-inch tall and an inch and-a-half of soap. The difficult part was shaping the owl's proportion since the soap is block-shaped and it was hard to round the edges. The trick was to wet the soap and rub it in your hands to get a smooth body/canvas.
Sculpting was also relieving. Turn on a music and just like painting, it sets your mood and frees the mind from stress. Also, always sculpt or paint when you are in the mood. Never do things when you are not comfortable doing it.Stay inspired and be inspired.
