The Hand

This is Mother Nature's hand reaching for help.

It is the foundation of the artwork and it reflects how our earth is badly needing our attention.

Everything is God's creation. Praying or being religious is not always enough to keep his creations living forever.

We must make God the center of life and keep his masterpieces eternal.

Slide3.PNG

Our life should be like a flower. Our senses bloom as we grow. We get to be more aware of our surroundings and help make solutions to problems.

A flower even if it withers, its pollen or seed will grow another flower, and another, and another......and so on.

The cycle of life.

Three beads were placed, it refracted light from the flashlight and made multiple sparkles of light.

It means, a simple act of kindness gets a long way.

A small change makes a lot of difference, as they say.

Slide2.PNG

Compassion is one powerful feeling. It makes us fight and do what is right for that person or thing.

This is the feeling we must always bring everyday. We may be busy and our minds focused on other things but we must remember to still be compassionate and act for what is rightful and just

God's creations. Animals, plants, sceneries, human beings must be taken care of.

Our Almighty assigned us as caretakers of his masterpieces. Let us preserve and conserve our environment.

Let other generations see what we see. We do not want to tell them a story of a tree. We want them to see trees.

The tree of life. This is the fruit of praying, compassion, action and reflection.

Our efforts to save our Mother nature will be rewarded by the continuous grow and living of God's creations.

The Anatomy and Meaning

VS

Always see the bigger picture, not just what is visible in front of you. There is more meaning if you just look from afar.

| Reduce | Reuse | Recycle |

That is what we always say, but do we practice them? I know I do. I have been an environmentalist since 2017. I was struck by my Environmental-Biologist professor Mr. Nian Beceril, also an environmental activist. He encouraged the class to love and preserve the ecosystem, since then I kept trying in small steps to do what needs to be done.

I have succulents and cacti and other species of plants at home that need not to be watered everyday to conserve water. We always bring eco-bags and refuse paper and plastic packaging if possible. I do not buy notebooks anymore, I make my own from brown paper bags that have been piling up at home from packaging and I already made about 10 notebooks.

My another advocacy is to sell those notebooks and other craft products made from recycled and tossed out paper and other materials and give 50% of my earnings to the homeless directly (not through charity) so I would know all will be sent to them. Hopefully this will be possible by next year, 2019.

We also started segregating our trash at home and I am thankful that my mom and sister started valuing the importance of segregating and reducing our trash. Now, I am still finding a way to reduce our use of tissue paper, cotton pads and sanitary napkins since we use and consume those products often. As well as starting to build our COMPOST area for biodegradable products.

I hope that reading this and watching the #Art4Change video will awaken your senses to start doing what we do or even more to save our environment. Thank you and God bless

My Inspiration

I did not buy anything to make this particular art

I used products that we have stocked at home

How I made the Art

things you'll need

1. ROLL PAPER

Size of bond paper (8.5"11" inches).

Roll the paper starting from the very corner edge as thin and tight as possible.

Use glue to secure tightness of the paper sticks.

Make sure it is long about 12 inches when rolled completely.

2. Make a Weave

Using your model as guide (I used my left hand) make a weave like pattern to make the foundation.

Secure it with masking tape. Use as much tape as needed. Play video as reference.

3. Weave hand

Continue building the hand in a weaving pattern securing with masking tape.

It will get easier when fingers are formed. If you made a mistake, you can always go back and redo.

4. Form hand

Keep on building the hand. When it is finished, form the hands as if it is naturally at rest.

Fingers are not too straight but not forming a fist.

Done!

I glued beads and charms from old necklaces and broken bracelets for the Shadow Play part of the Art. So these elements will be seen.

I also spray painted it gold to give it a sophisticated finish. (also stocked at home)
